of the week, Kelly and I went to work. After work, Kelly and I are taking a class about religion. It's a very interesting class because it's not biased (to our knowledge) and does not try to change the way we already think. It's interesting because it's a 10 month class meeting once a week and tries to cover all aspects of the religion. At first it focused on a historical view on Judaism, and now it's more focusing on Judaism today and Judaism in America.
Last weeks topic was Antisemitism and it spilled over to this week where we talked about the Holocaust. The rabbi, who is about our age, talked about what some authors have written about it. He said that this event was very different from any other type of murder in history. In the holocaust, the Germans not only wanted to kill all the Jewish people, but they specifically wanted them to suffer. In history, typically one group would just try to kill their enemy's as quick as possible. In this event, the camps were designed for the Nazi's to "kill the Jewish people's minds and souls before they killed their bodies." It's also very interesting hearing some of the reactions which people have written about their new views on religion after knowing what when on in the camps after the holocaust.

I have spoken to different people who have survived concentration camps. The atrocities were so horrendous that it is mind boggling that these people survived at all. Grandma Yvette's friend went to school with Anne Frank. I especially enjoy hearing her stories about how she hid in different people's houses behind walls, in tunnels, etc. She would be an amazing person for you to talk to.
