Ok, now I've seen it all! (Day 2)

First up, let me say that Adam's blog is also describing our week of adventure but in awesome detail so you should check it out (http://www.coozer.blogspot.com/).

The second day of his trip we checked out Kowloon. I work in Kowloon twice a week at my playgroup, so I am already somewhat familiar with the area. Its a pretty amazing place and honestly more of what I expected Hong Kong to be like than Hong Kong Island is. This is where you'll find the Flower Market, Bird Market, Ladies Market, Jade Market, and Temple Street Night Market (and many more but these being the most popular). After I finished working around noon, Adam & I met up at the Bird Market. The Bird Market is actually sort of sad because you have thousands of cute little birds for sale that are trapped in these tiny cages. I always feel like buying one when I go by so that I can set it free. By the time we met up, Adam had already walked most of Kowloon, but he was up for continuing to explore. He took me back to Kowloon Park. I've never been there and I discovered how amazing it is. I'm definitely going back! Some pictures..

We explored the park and many of the markets I listed above. Somwhere in the middle, we stopped for another dim sum lunch. Monday was Cantonese dim sum and today was Shanghainese dim sum. We stuffed ourselves with steamed buns and noodles. The restaurant might as well have called itself "we serve only pork" because that was basically the case, but I managed to find the items that were not and they were really delicious.

Later in the day, after we shopped till we dropped at the markets (didn't actually buy anything though), we visited Tsim Tsa Tsui. This is the most unpronounceable place in all of Hong Kong. I had been wanting to check it out for a while so I was very excited to go. They have a boardwalk that offers incredible views of the city, sort of like Long Island City with its views of Manhattan. They also have an "Avenue of the Stars" along the Boardwalk.

All of that sightseeing makes you very thirsty! No seriously, we had no idea the beer would be that size and I laughed for a good five minutes about it.
