A Day in Shanghai Part III

Ok so technically it was a day and a half in Shanghai!

After a long day of sightseeing on Saturday we stopped off for dinner. We went to a market type place where they had a ton of restaurants offering all different kinds of cuisine. We could choose from Korean, Japanese, numerous styles of Chinese, Thai, and many other options. I went with dinner in a bamboo canoe. It was stir friend beef and came with an egg drop soup. It was pretty good! Mostly I enjoyed it because it came in a canoe.

After dinner we went back to the hotel to relax and play with some of the goodies we bought at the market. Daniel bought a wooden pig puzzle and I bought a little ball that you splat on the ground and watch it re-form itself into a ball (yup, quality stuff!)

The next morning we woke up and it was raining. We were very lucky it didn't rain on Saturday. We only had an hour or two before we had to leave for the airport so we enjoyed our American style buffet breakfast at the hotel and went across the street to enjoy a massage at Best Buy.

Finally, we took the subway to Long Wang station and boarded the Mag Lev train. This train will get you to the airport in under 10 minutes (normally it takes 45-50 minutes by car) and reaches a top speed of around 430 km/hour. We arrived at the airport, boarded our flight to Hong Kong, and caught some amazing sunset views on the way back.

That ends our whirlwind weekend in Shanghai! Next up we are hoping to visit Beijing when we have a three day weekend in the Spring. Great Wall here we come. :-) We also have an exciting week long trip being planned in July during my summer break from school but Daniel doesn't know where we are going. He is going to be surprised when we arrive at the airport.
